Zinedine Zidane, one of the most influential and talented football players of all times, has negated Sir Alex Ferguson’s opinion on Steven Gerrard, as reported by the Mirror.
Sir Alex Ferguson claimed in his newly released autobiography that Gerrard was never a ‘top, top player’, but he admitted that he tried to sign him.
Of all the people asked, nobody sided with Fergie on his opinion, and a lot Liverpool fans seemed displeased with what Sir Alex said.
“For two or three years, Steven Gerrard was the best midfield player in the world,” said the former Madrid star.
“Even now he is playing at a high level for Liverpool and England.”
“Alex Ferguson is obviously one of the most successful coaches the game has ever had. But I did find his comments about Steven Gerrard very strange. To say he is not a top player is wrong,” Zidane added.
Steven Gerrard was an amazing midfielder during 2005 to 2008. He put forward a sensational performance against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final.
