Robin van Persie has scored seven goals until now. He scored his first goal in the Champions League against Cluj. He now has two goals in two Champions League matches.
However, he thinks that he needs to set up more goals like he did for Arsenal, assisting in nine goals last season. He has made one assist for United until then which was Shinji Kagawa’s goal against Tottenham.
“I’d like to make more assists,” the Dutchman said. “I have seven goals but for me, as I’ve said many times, it’s not only about goals. Of course it’s about winning, but I want to make more assists. Until now, I gave only one so I want that to improve a bit. I’m on a good run but I can always do better.”
Wayne Rooney did an excellent job by setting up both the goals for Robin van Persie in the match against Cluj.
“I think it’s the first time we both started together and we’re both very pleased with that, but we’re all in it together,” Van Persie added. “Chicharito played very well, we have Danny [Welbeck] and we have lots of strikers.”
Robin van Persie is 29 years of age and still has a lot of years to play considering his form. He was the top goal scorer in the Barclays Premier League last season and there is no doubt that he would give away that honour to someone else this season.
