The former Arsenal defender who made over 300 appearances for the club claims Wenger would rather spend in the summer than spend so much money on Julian Draxler.
Reports began to merge large night during Arsenal’s match with Coventry City which claimed that Draxler had signed for Arsenal. It was first reported by the Telegraph’s journalist.
Arsenal have been linked to the 20-year-old and a £35million bid for the German from the Gunners’ side was to be made.
However Keown, who won nine major trophies at Arsenal, claims that it is less likely for the Gunners to make a signing during mid-season.
“If Arsenal are going to buy a player now, it’s got to be a ready-made player, like Mesut Ozil was,” he told the Weekend Sports Breakfast show. “Wenger is the sort of manager who deals himself a hand at the start of the season, and then plays it.
“He doesn’t like dipping in [to the market in January]. They’ll be saving their money for an Ozil like signing in the summer.”
However, Arsene Wenger did something very unexpected of him last season when h splashed the cash on Mesut Ozil so you can expect him to do anything now.
