Wayne Rooney gave away his shirt and shorts ,why?

Last night Wayne Rooney as a captain single handily helped England to demolished San Marino .Rooney struck two goals  including a penalty in the 30th minute in a 5-0 win  .After scoring twice last night Wayne Rooney took his tally of goals to  31 goals in 80 games for England which has  stacked him at the fifth place of all time England greats including  Bobby Charlton, Gary Lineker, Jimmy Greaves and Michael Owen.

After a wonderful display of football night Wayne Rooney depicted some great sportsmanship .He not only gave his England T shirt  to a San Marino player but also gave his shorts to a San Marino player while passing through the tunnel .He justified it by saying that

“I gave my shirt to one of their side and had to give my shorts away as well.”

“That was a first. It was strange. I don’t know which player it was.”

“But it is a great opportunity for them to play at Wembley in front of 90,000 fans, so I didn’t mind.”

Wayne Rooney also showed  the gratitude towards his achievement and  considered it a honor to be even listed among the top five greats of England.He said in a post match press conference that

“It’s a great honour to be in the top five and I am extremely proud. I am only 26 so have a long way to go and hope to score many more.”

Roy Hodgson is very happy with his team performance .He specially admired Wayne Rooney by saying that

“It is a great achievement and he still has years of football left in him.”
