Wayne Rooney who sustained a horrible cut in his thigh proclaims that immediate treatment saved him otherwise the situation could have been worse .Rooney sustained a gruesome six-inch gash down the inside of his right leg. It was within a millimeter of a potentially fatal injury.This all happened when Fulham’s Hugo Rodallega stepped on Rooney’s thigh with his famous Nike Vapor VIII boots .It was an inch away of puncturing his femoral artery, which untreated can cause the victim to bleed to death in 10 minutes .
Rooney discussed the severity of his injury with the national newspaper by saying that
“I was quite lucky it didn`t cut my muscle.”
“I was told it was just one millimetre away from severing an artery. It could have been a lot worse, so thank God for that. I could have been in serious trouble.”
“The doctors said a lot of players could have fainted. They tried to cover it up from me in the dressing room and put something in it to stop it being infected, but I told them I wanted to watch.”
“Thankfully, their prompt action prevented serious and possible lasting damage.”
Wayne Rooney is now save and no serious harm was done but the question remains the same Is it safe to use metal studs?

Although the introduction of this boot up to an extent has change the world of football.These Nike vapor series boots are design for players who are pacy and fast .These boots really help them to enhance their speed and ball control but every good thing in this world has some disadvantages .
Only those boots should be allowed which do not have large and sharp metal edges for griping .
Although after the introduction of these boots referees were strictly instructed to check the boots of the player before the game.
“Its the job of the officials to check the rough and sharp edges of the studs ,Its compulsory to check the size and sharpness of the blades because these sharp edges are very dangerous and can cause harm like Wayne Rooney and if the officials thinks that the boots are not safe than they are allowed to refuse their use until they have been made safe.”
Although my opinion is that the use of boots should be allowed but under extra care and investigation .These boots are among the reasons that we now see a player on the top of its form which is entertaining to watch.
Although this injury of Rooney has hindered him from making an epic strike force partnership with Van Persie and many people suggests that the present form of Van Persie and other young strike force has opened the exit doors for Wayne Rooney but Wayne Rooney does not think that
“You can`t assume you`re going to play but I`ve always worked very hard to make sure the manager has got to play me”.
“It`s great for us now. I`m looking forward to getting back in the team and trying to forge an understanding with Robin.”
