Goal.com has revealed that Theo Walcott has signed a new deal with Arsenal. The final episode of the talks were held on Wednesday , and Walcott has been granted with a £30,000-a-week pay rise.
As a part of that contract, Walcott will stay with Arsenal till 2017 and his salary, though still lesser than his demand, would be £90,000-a-week which will be seasoned by bonuses and a huge signing-on fee.
Walcott seems happy with the new contract, and he is happy to consider the new promotions he has received. He was also happy with Arsene Wenger who had let him play up-front as a centre-forward – the position that happens to be his new favourite. However, Walcott has proved himself to be a good centre-forward.
Walcott has played Arsenal’s last five matches as a centre-forward and he has scored four impressive goals that include a hat-trick against Newcastle United. Walcott had not received many playing oppurtunities when the season began but he is now the club’s top goal-scorer with 14 goals to his name.
Walcott had apparenty always wanted to stay at Arsenal where he enjoys a good relationship with the staff and other players.
Arsenal will soon announce this new contract so that Wenger could prepare himself and his squad to face Manchester City on Sunday.
