Transfer News: Arsenal encouraged in Winger’s signing

Arsenal had to face a shock despite of a wonderful win against their arch rivals in the cup game. The Gunners defeated Tottenham Hotspur once again in a 2-0 win at the Emirates. But Theo Walcott had to go off on a stretcher with an injury and hence Gunners are short on options in the wing department. The English winger/forward is considered to be injured for 6 months and is most likely to miss the World Cup.

After the injury to Walcott, Arsenal have pushed their pursuit for Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria after he was booed by supporters of the Spanish giants last night and appeared to react towards his substitution with an inappropriate gesture.

The Argentina international cut an unhappy figure after being replaced by Welshman Gareth Bale in last night’s 3-0 win against Celta Vigo and was jeered at the Bernabeu before seeming to grab his crotch as he walked off. Title challengers Arsenal, also linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, could pair di Maria with his former Real team-mate Mesut Ozil.

Although Ancelotti played down this matter in the post-match interview and said, “I didn’t see his gesture. I don’t think there’s a problem, I have every faith in him. If Di María reacted like that to fans, it wasn’t a mistake, it was two mistakes, but life goes on.”
