The internet and social media were taken by a storm last night when reports began to fly in from every possible source claiming that the Gunners had signed the German Mesut Ozil. There has been nothing official yet, but it would be fair to say that every possible newspaper has reported on this news – from the very reliable Sky Sports News to the Spanish newspapers like Marca.
However, Marca reported in the morning that things are now changing as Ozil is now considering staying at Real Madrid despite offers from Arsenal (and Manchester United). This shows that things are not as simple as some sources claim them to be: £45million + £5million bonus.
Then, Sky Sports and a few other sources began to claim that the English giants Manchester United were going to make a bid for Ozil. There were some stories claiming that United did have a chance but they could not land him because the Red Devils offered lower wages than Arsenal.
The BBC then reported that United did not make a move and neither were they planning to. They are probably stuck somewhere with their Herrera and Fellaini deal.
The latest on this story comes from Sky who claim that United are not going to bid for Ozil.
Update: Sky Sports News have just revealed that Arsene Wenger is now doing all that he can to land not only Mesut Ozil but also Di Maria. A sensational bid might just be made today. Now that is some ‘surprise’ for the fans.
Update: The Mirror are now claiming that a deal has been done between Real Madrid and Arsenal. Ozil has been signed for Arsenal apparently.
