An year back Arsenal would have welcomed the French star Yohan Cabaye with open arms as they were literally crying out loud for a stellar signing which could improve and upgrade the squad. But suddenly, the last transfer window, Arsene Wenger stepped out of his comfort zone and bought Mesut Ozil which not only did wonders for them on the pitch but also changed the atmosphere around the club and enhanced positivity.
With the subsequent signing of Mesut Ozil it’s questionable whether Arsenal even need Cabaye, valued at a reported £22 million by Newcastle.
Reports emerged midweek that a FIFA regulation could enable Cabaye to buy out part of his contract and leave for a cut-price £6 million in the summer, potentially increasing Newcastle’s desire to cash in this January if true – although the club has not commented either way on the Mirror’s report.
Reports have suggested that PSG are keen to offer him a hefty contract but the player wants champions’ league football while staying in England. Speaking to a newspaper Massadio Haidara said,
“He’s really a good person who works hard to be at this level. I am happy to play with such a player, he has the qualities to go to a bigger club than Newcastle yet. Whether PSG or Arsenal, two big clubs, but I personally find that Arsenal would be better for him. After all the decision is up to him, and now I am glad he is in Newcastle.”
