Arsenal completing a deadline day signing for one of the best players in the world proves they have all the ingredients to attract stellar players. Ozil, who initially looked a fantasy to be joining the Red side of London, indeed, became true only because of the hard work of the Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger, who admitted that patience game helped in signing the player.
But reports today have claimed that it wasn’t only going to be Arsene’s hard work. It was about Arsenal’s traditions which attracted the German international to choose Gunners.
The PSG new manager Laurent Blanc who replaced Carlo Ancelotti revealed that Ozil chose Gunners over the multi-millionaires of PSG.
Speaking to French radio station RMC Blanc said of PSG’s pursuit of Ozil: “We lacked the time to recruit a midfielder. Clement Chantome chose to be transferred to Toulouse.
“We lack the time to recruit a midfielder. Ozil and Mata would have done well. To my knowledge we only attempted to sign Ozil. A midfielder could land at PSG in the next transfer window.”
It is fantastic to see that football’s tradition is still intact where players like Ozil choose class over money.
