Many rumours had also claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo might leave Real Madrid this season and join the Red Devils again.
Sir Alex ruled out such reports.

“There’s nothing I’m aware of that would encourage me to think he will come back to the club,” said Sir Alex.

“He has two years left on his contract and it could be to do with negotiations going on about a new contract in Madrid. I think it is a false hope.”

Sir Alex Ferguson also claimed that Jose Mourinho has no plans of leaving the club yet.

“Everyone is assuming Jose is going to leave Real,” said Sir Alex. “But I read that last year, too – and he’s still there.

Ronaldo returns to United

No return!

“I don’t know how they can replace someone like Mourinho anyway. A reasonable assessment of Mourinho’s time at Madrid would have to take into account how exceptional Barcelona have been.

“They have won the European Cup twice and the Spanish league for four years before Real took it last season. They have been in a golden spell, and you must realise that when you assess Mourinho.

“I think he has done a great job at Real Madrid. Would you really want to let go of a good coach like that? I don’t think Florentino Perez (the president of Real Madrid) would want that.

“What you read about Chelsea and all the rest of it, you’ve got to think that it would be difficult for Jose to leave Real Madrid because he’s at the very top there. I’m not certain he would leave. Maybe it’s possible, and maybe there’s no smoke without fire, but I’m sure a lot of other clubs would love to take him.”
