Considering some good performances by the sidelined United players this midweek against Chelsea, Sir Alex will have a number of options to consider for the team that will play against Arsenal at home this weekend.
Sir Alex has revealed to ManUtd.com that he could include Anderson in his first team plans this Saturday.
The Brazilian had a great game against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup. Even though the match was lost, Anderson assisted three of the four goals and showed the mnager that he was worthy of a chance in the first team.
“Ando was the best player on the pitch [on Wednesday] until he tired,” said Sir Alex. “He needs games now and hopefully we can give him them.”
The good news is that Manchester United have not got any addition to their injury list despite having two clashes with Chelsea. The fans and players were expecting a few injuries as Chelsea is not easily controlled when they get physical.
“Chris Smalling is training with the first-team squad on the football side which is good news,” stated the boss. “He’s not ready for us yet but it’s still encouraging. We’ve got options. Chicharito is in terrific form. He is improving all the time. The key to Chicha’s form is the decent rest he’s had in the summer.
“Every game against Arsenal is always a big one,” he added. “It won’t be any different tomorrow.
“They have proved defensively this year that they’re a stronger, more physical team. I watched them last week against QPR and it’ll be a hard game.”
It means that we should not be really expecting history to repeat itself as Arsenal lost 8 – 2 to United at Old Trafford last season.
