The Daily Mail have revealed a big news today as they claim that Arsenal still play Southampton £10,000 punds for every game that Alexander Oxlade-Chamberlain plays for more than twenty minutes. The item definitely puts in the missing pieces of puzzle after this report because the Ox has hardly featured last season, and every time he comes on, he comes in after the 70th minute which further proves their point.
Neil Ashton revealed that the email bill Arsenal received from Southampton included the injury time so Arsenal had to pay anyway.
A lot of queries come in mind when a person thinks of all this, because risking your team’s position for a sum of money is hazardous, especially when you receive so much from your fans every week. Maybe this is where Arsenal’s cash flows out each year during the transfer windows (pun intended)
Now what is questionable is the fact that why of all the times is Mail brigning it up now. They might have received the news now, or maybe they are pressurizing the already under-pressure manager and club.
Yet, Wenger has always claimed that he stays careful with younger players considering how an injury had ruled out the very talented Jack Wilshere for such a long time. Maybe the late substitutions are him being careful, or maybe the huge bill Soton would make bothers him.
It’s time Arsenal issue a formal statement over the matter, otherwise the club’s prestige might come at stake.
