The transfer of Mesut Ozil to Arsenal came as a big shock for everyone, and though the unexpected happened, a strange incident took place side-by-side.
The club-record £42.5million transfer took place on transfer deadline day, and the Arsenal academy coach had a bet on that transfer.
Mark Arber, whose father is a scout for Arsenal as well, tweeted: “Lovely bit of 14-1 Mesut”.
It is understood that the staff is not allowed to get involved in betting when it is related to their own club, and this case is being investigated right now.
The previous incidents in the football word reveal that those who get involved in betting related to their club are not allowed to go away with it, and are punished.
Accrington Stanley managing director Robert Heys has been banned by the FA for 21 times after he was caught involved in breaking the betting rules for about 735 times. It involved 200 bets related to his club and surprisingly, 37 of them were against his side.
