To every bod’s intellect, Arsenal haven’t been able to reach the heights of the team which they once were when they had the likes of Vieira, Henry and Bergkamp due to the bulk of debts they had to fill in for the stadium debt and because of that, they haven’t been able to replace their stellar players who left and left resulting in a less frightening Arsenal squad.
In past years, we have seen the likes of Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri leaving the Gunners with a huge gap to fill. Unfortunately, there is another threat now for the Gunners, as their most lethal weapon and arguably England’s best player Jack Wilshere has his eye on the exit door, if Arsene Wenger decides to quit Emirates.
The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust went as far as to issue a statement saying offering Wenger a new contract at this time would be “inappropriate”.
Yet Wilshere stands by Wenger and says criticism of the current longest serving manager in the Premier League is “ridiculous”.
Jack Wilshere told Zapsportz.com, “I want to win things with Arsenal and I want to be there in the future, but if the boss leaves then things could change. Arsenal are always in my heart and by signing a deal for the next five years shows my commitment to them and their commitment to me so at the moment everything is good.”
This statement of Wilshere is a bit fishy, as his interview depicts to a certain extent that he is there for The Boss, Arsene Wenger. But if Wenger isn’t at the Emirates any more, Wilshere might want to test himself in a new challenge. So all the Gunners’ fanbase should hope Arsenal wins a few trophies which eventually lead to the benefit of quality players wanting to serve the club.
