Laurent Kosicleny has been Arsenal’s best center back for quite a while. His consistent performances for the club have made him a fan favorite. The Gunners all over the world were panicking when admitted that he might leave Arsenal if there is no more intent shown towards the glory. But thankfully, that’s not the case anymore as Wenger has completed a masterstroke of a signing in Mesut Ozil.
Koscielny has humble beginnings, and when he was signed for £8.45 million from Lorient not many fans would have felt it possible that he would turn out to be this talented a player.
The French international had never played for his country at youth level, and he once had to leave Guingamp in Ligue 2 because he was simply not getting the football.
He went to Tours, which is where he made his name, and ended up at Lorient where he was spotted by Arsenal’s French scout Gilles Grimandi.
However Grimandi revealed, “I saw him when he was at Tours in Ligue 2. We may have made a mistake. We should have taken him when he was in League 2. I could not imagine his evolution. On Tuesday, you see a game in the Champions League and on Friday a meeting in Ligue 2. And you have to ask yourself the question whether he can move from one level to another.”
