After all the criticism over the lack of signings by the Gunners, Arsene Wenger plans to sign the Swansea duo of Williams (defender) and Michu(striker) for £35million.
The first league game Arsenal played was against Aston Villa. The North Londoners failed to impress their fans and lost 3-1 at home. The frustrated Arsenal fans booed their team at full time and chanted “spend some f*****g” money”.
The only summer signing has been the 20-year-old striker Yaya Sanogo but failed to sign some big names like Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez, Luiz Gustavo and Wayne Rooney.
The Gunners’ boss has told that he is looking to sign two or three players has been watching several players that he tracked.
Michu had a great season with Swansea last year. He netted 22 goals. But it shows that Swansea are unwilling to sell the striker but has valued the 27-year-old, at £25m which shows that a bid near £25m will not be rejected knowing the fact that Micheal Laudrup still counts on him.
The Gunners maintain their interest in the Manchester United’s striker Wayne Rooney but United are not willing to sell him yet which makes Michu their alternate.
Michu signed a new contract in January with Swansea which is of £30,000-a-week, whereas Arsenal can give him more than his basic wage.
Arsenal offered £6million for Williams which got rejected. A £10m bid could likely get Williams to Emirates.
Arsenal’s vice-president Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith shared her feelings on Twitter when she stated that she regretted selling her shares to Stan Kroenke in 2011.
Bracewell-Smith wrote: “What a shame the board recommended a Kroenke takeover and paid Rothchilds 3m fee. And how deeply I regret selling to Kroenke. #AFC”
