Mancini disappointed

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has claimed that things have now become easier for United, after their controversial elimination from the UEFA Champion League.

Mancini believes that United only has the Premier League and FA Cup to worry about now, so their chances for winning it have further increased.

“United will now concentrate all their strength to win the championship and it was hard enough for us before this game against Madrid,” he told the reporters.

“It was better for us that they stayed in the Champions League.”

Mancini also believes that Cuneyt Cakir’s decision to give Nani a red card for his high challenge on Alvaro Arbeola was wrong.

“I can see why Ferguson was frustrated,” Mancini explained. “It was the same thing that saw [Vincent] Kompany sent off against Manchester United in the FA Cup last year.

“This was a big mistake and for me Nani did not deserve a yellow card. Even in Italy it would be nothing because Nani tried to take the ball.”
