Arsenal are reportedly stepping into the race and are ready to go head to head with their arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur, for AS Roma’s sensational striker Erik Lamela who is cited by many as ‘The next big thing in football’. The Serie A side are only considering offers which are in a range of £30 million and according to the Metro, the Roma’s director of football Walter Sabatini jetted into London yesterday for talks with Spurs over a potential deal.
After all these reports, the saga seems to have taken a U-turn in Arsenal’s favor as Roma’s forward has apparently told his brother that he wants a move to Emirates, only because he wants to have the luxury of playing in the Champions League and also under an experienced manager like Arsene Wenger.
Noticing Erik Lamela’s interest in playing in the Red and White, Italian reports have started claiming that Arsenal also made enquiries into the 21-year-old’s availability and could be prepared to go head-to-head with their north London neighbors.
Roma are keen to lighten up their wage bill by omitting Pjanic or Lamela from their squad. Tottenham apparently seem to have the odds in hand for the finish for the race for Erik Lamela, but the news of Willian joining the Whites from Anzhi, Arsenal might end up having a clean road for the signature of Lamela.
