It seems like the transfer of Mesut Ozil has opened doors for a lot of other Germans at Arsenal, since the Metro has revealed today that Arsene Wenger is planning to sign Ilkay Gundogan and Lars Bender next.
Ozil, who completed his £42.5m transfer on deadline day, is not the first German at Arsenal. Other teammates who are Germans include Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker, Serge Gnarby and Gedion Zelalem.
Wenger, who was previously famous for signing French players, is now targeting more German players like Borussia Dortmund’s Gundogan and Bender of Bayer Leverkusen.
Wenger still needs a proper holding midfielder, and the newspaper claims that the Arsenal scouts will be keeping an eye on German duo for the rest of the season.
It seems less likely that Wenger will bid for them in January, and Metro does not really mention when Wenger will bid for them, but if it’s really happening – even if next year –Gooners will have to prepare themselves for silverware.
