Despite winning and getting three points, Manchester United did not play very well against Liverpool, this Sunday.

According to Rafael da Silva, Manchester United did not play one of their best games. He is glad, however, that he could contribute in winning the match.

Ten-man Liverpool were the ones to score the first goal of the match when Gerrard scored. Soon afterwards, Rafael’s shot leveled the score. United got the lead when Robin van Persie scored a penalty.

United are now just below Chelsea on the table at number two.

“It’s a very important three points,” Rafael told MUTV. “It wasn’t a great performance from us but in the last five years we haven’t won here so we’re very pleased.

“It’s definitely the best goal I’ve scored for United. It was a good moment to get it because it was so quick after they scored. If we hadn’t had scored them we might have got a little bit nervous so it was an important time to get the goal.”

Rafael added: “I was so pleased [to score] for the fans. They always give me such great support and I know this is an important game for them so I’m very happy.”

Rafael has been impressive this season till now. Despite being a defender, he has scored two goals in five appearances.
