Manchester United’s boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told that his defenders Chris Smalling and Phil Jones will be returning to action by next week when Manchester United will travel to Braga for the UEFA Champions League match.
Smalling had broken his metatarsal during the summer and was speculated to return this week. He is to yet play his first match of the season. Similarly, Phil Jones has made no appearances this season due to his back and knee injuries.
“We will try to push Chris on quickly,” Ferguson told reporters. “I don’t think he will make Wednesday’s game [against Chelsea], but I am sure he will be ready for the following week. There was some hope both he and Phil would be back for this busy schedule. Phil will be starting football training next Monday. He still has some running to do. The good news is they are not far away.”
Phil Jones was signed from Blackburn Rovers last season and made 41 appearances. He even scored two goals for Manchester United. Despite being a very talented defender, Jones career has been highlighted with injuries.
Phil Jones was signed from Fulham and plays as a center back. He has made 63 appearances or Manchester United and has also scored 3 goals. He might be rushed to return as United’s captain Nemanja Vidic is out due to an injury.
