As we all know that Gunners’ fan base is frustrated by the lack of transfer activity by their boss Arsene Wenger, with no excuse of having a weakened transfer muscle this time around as it is reported by sources that Arsenal have around £100m to spend. Arsenal have lost out on quite a few targets including a couple of midfielders in this window with their prime target Gustavo joining selecting Wolfsburg over Gunners.
Sky Sports have reported, that Arsenal are now in a hunt for France’s highly rated midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Different sources, including Sky Sports, today reported that Arsenal’s bid for Cabaye has been termed as ‘insulting’ by Newcastle United and was rejected out of hand.
Alan Pardew, Newcastle’s boss has confirmed of the bid being received by the Gunners. Pardew has no intention of offering hope to Cabaye’s suitors, though, with Newcastle reluctant to part with another star performer towards the end of a transfer window – leaving them with little time in which to land a replacement. Though, Newcastle are hoping to see off the time till 3rd September as they have an idea of other clubs’ interest mounting near the deadline day.
Pardew in an interview said, “The speculation about Cabaye is right. He’s a top player and I wouldn’t expect no less. It’s good for his confidence. He’s not caused me one problem and he’s worked really hard. His professionalism has been brilliant and our fans need to know that.”
