Messi takes a jibe at Manchester City and PSG

One of the biggest players in the world, Lionel Messi, has compared Paris St. Germain to Manchester City saying money alone cannot lead to European success.

Messi has also revealed that he is not interested in joining PSG and that he is happy with his life in the Catalonian capital.

Messi had previously said that he would retire at Barcelona and nothing in the world could force him out of this club.

“Paris St Germain’s project tempting? No, no!” said Messi to France Football. “I have the best teammates in the world at Barcelona. We fight for trophies every season.”

PSG have started their Ligue 1 season in wonderful form with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring ten goals in ten matches.

Just like Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain are known for their extravagant spending when this year they brought in Thiago Silva, Lavezzi, Javier Pastore and Ibrahimovic.

However, Messi thinks that such spending cannot ensure success in the Champions League, even if it makes them successful in their home leagues.

“I don’t know whether PSG already have the means to challenge the big teams in the Champions League this season,” said Messi.

“I think that they can win the Ligue 1 title with all the players who can be decisive. But it takes time to build a team.

“Their situation reminds me a bit of Manchester City. It’s not easy to build a team when you have players coming from all corners of the world.”

Manchester City are perhaps the best example of what Messi is trying to say. Despite having big stars in their team, they have just secured one point from three points. They will next face Ajax at home followed by Dortmund away and Real Madrid at home.

City are doing well in the Premier League and are at number two spot with Manchester United, just one point away from Chelsea.
