Tottenham Hotspurs vs. Southampton – Match Preview

Venue and Timings

The match kicks off at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday, October 28th, 2012 at 1600 hours BST.

Team News

Tottenham

You might not say Spurs were in great form when they went on to play against Chelsea. The match ended as a victory for The Blues. However, they will be all geared up to bounce back with a win.

Gareth Bale had missed the match against Chelsea, leaving on the last minute. He I to feature against The Saints.

Lloris will be hoping to start but it is more likely for Friedel to play in the goal.

However, the biggest question is over the fitness of Mousa Dembele who did not play against Chelsea last week because of his hip injury which he picked up on international duty. He will remain doubtful for the match.

Southampton

Southampton are facing the worst injury crises ever as their injury list keeps on expanding every week. Gaston Ramirez is suffering from a muscle tear and had missed the West Ham clash. He is least likely to feature against Spurs.

Like Tottenham, Spurs also lost their last meeting. West Ham secured their win over the Saints with a 4 – 1 clear victory. Though the match will be played at Southampton’s home ground, you cannot really expect them to do wonders.

Lambert will most probably earn back his lost position in the starting XI.

Star Man

Mousa Dembele (Tottenham) : If Dembele plays tomorrow, he will be bad news for Southampton as that man adds wonders to his team from his position. While playing as a defensive midfielder, he gets ahead and supports the strikers. He adds strength to the midfield and has enough physical power to drive any side insane. With his strong dribbling skills and defensive contribution, the Saints will have to deal with this man carefully.

Rickie Lambert (Southampton) : This 30-year-old centre forward, with 4 goals and 2 assists in 6 appearances, is sure to add his name on the score sheet this Sunday. With a marvelous ability to pass, he can easily score from short passes. His game will be interesting to watch as this guy has challenged teams like Manchester United.

My prediction: 2 – 1 to Tottenham. Playing at the Saints’ home ground, it will not be an easy encounter for Tottenham. They will, however, take the victory as they have to cover up their defeat th the hands of Chelsea.
