Manchester United Latest Injury updates

Manchester United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Antonio Valencia will not accompany the team to West Ham because of his injury.

Valencia is suffering from a hip injury and did not participate in the team’s 3 – 1 victory over QPR.

Valencia missed the 3-1 win over QPR at the weekend with a hip problem and is set to miss out when the Hammers visit Old Trafford on Wednesday night due to the injury.

“He had a hip injury,” Ferguson told MUTV. “Just towards his back. He’s had a bit of pain there for the last couple of weeks but he’s been playing with it. That’s the type of guy he is. He never mentioned it and plays on.

“All of a sudden, you ask him and he says: ‘Yes, it’s sore’. It won’t be too long and he should be ready for maybe next week.”

Nani is also injured so it is expected that Ashley Young will start on Wednesday.

United might be in a little more trouble as Paul Scholes is suspended after he earned five yellow cards.

Sir Alex might play Anderson after he had an impressive game against QPR.

“I thought Ando won the game for us,” he told MUTV.

“His performance was outstanding. He took the game by the scruff of the neck and he was so positive and determined in his play that he picks himself on Wednesday.

“We’ll see what Antonio is like today and tomorrow. Nani is still going to be out [but] Chris Smalling and Phil Jones were on the bench on Saturday and they’re available.

“It’s good to have them as back-up and in the back four things are much healthier. We’ve got plenty of options in the midfield and up front – it’s just the two wide positions [where we have problems in terms of availability].”

Now with limited squad options, only time will tell how United nail the Hammers.
