With Arsenal linking to Di Maria heavily in the recent transfer window and then eventually losing out, there was a secret interest by Arsenal in unsettled Manchester United winger Luis Nani. Nani has now signed a five year contract but reports have suggested that he regrets not joining the North Londoners after they landed in their stroke of the season, Mesut Ozil.
Turkish giants Galarasaray were strongly linked with Luis Nani and he was open to a move to Turkey but Manchester United rejected a bid of 6.5m telling them they will have to pay around 4m if they wanted the services of the Portuguese.
Nani has always shown glimpses of his huge potential with the Red Devils, having joined the club from Sporting Lisbon back in 2007. However, he’s failed to live up to the billing as the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo, who enjoyed six great years with the Premier League champions before moving to Real Madrid in Spain.
Although certain reports today have suggested that Arsenal could have landed in the player who was open to a move away from Manchester United. Nani is arguably the best winger in the Premier League on his day but his consistency needs to be sorted out which could have been accomplished under Arsene Wenger.
