Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he is very unhappy with the club for selling Nacho Monreal to Arsenal last week.
The North Londoners made an £8 million for Monreal on the transfer deadline day nd successfully signed him. With Kieran Gibbs out, the Spanish international will fill in his boots while he recovers.
“Monreal’s exit is a very sad moment for the team. It deprives us of a very important player who performed to the highest standards,” Pellegrini said in a press conference.
The frustrated coach revealed that it was not only a loss to his squad but also shows the financial loss the club is facing.
“Unfortunately, the reality of the club is what it is, and there is no way of hiding it. It was an option that came up at the last minute, and the club thought it was appropriate,” he added.
“I understand they have to try and balance the books, because the pressure is on us from all sides, and we have received punishments. It is a major loss to us in sporting terms.”
Previously, Arsenal had signed Malaga’s star midfielder Santi Cazorla who now plays for the club.
It is now rumoured that Manchester City are now looking to sign Malaga key striker Isco during the next transfer period in Summers.
