As the January transfer window is nearing, Gunners are expected to be battling in the market especially for a prolific goal scorer upfront. Any injury to Giroud can lead to a blow for Arsenal’s league winning chances. But there is good news for the patient Arsenal fans as reports are suggesting Arsene Wenger is aiming high for the Los Blancos’ unsettled duo.
Spanish newspaper ‘El Confidencial’ reports that Real Madrid duo Iker Casillas and Alvaro Morata top the Gunners transfer agenda for the winter.
Knowing that a first league title for a decade is very much on the horizon for his talented side, Wenger is rumoured to be looking for immediate reinforcements, rather than talent for future campaigns.
Both players have stru
ggled to nail down a starting berth at the Bernabeu this season, and while Madrid are reportedly unwilling to sell as early as next month, there are certain factors that could swing the situation in the Gunners’ favour.
Iker is yet to make an impact in Real Madrid with Lopez preferred over him and if he is to make space in Del Bosque’s world cup squad selection, he will have to get regular playing time. Morata’s loan deal is still on but if Arsenal want to sign the player permanently they’ll have to see whether Madrid land in a stellar striker or not.
