Manchester United midfielder Luis Nani has promised that he will prove that he deserves the contracts demands he has been asking
for.
Nani’s contract will expire at the end of next season, and he has still not agreed to a new contract with the Red Devils.
Nani wants £130,000-a-week, but United are not ready to increase his salary from £90,000-a-week.
Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted that he wants the Portuguese to stay, but the player wants that his demands should be met.
Nani was even selected ahead of Wayne Rooney against Real Madrid, and after the player got a controversial red card, the team suffered greatly.
“I want to show the manager that he can trust me and he can believe in me in every match,” said the 26-year-old winger.
“I want to show him my contribution can help win games. So I’ll keep working hard to make sure I’m ready to respond every time I get a chance.”
Nani has just recovered from an injury that had kept him sidelined for two month, but since his return, he has featured in three of the four games that United has played.
The winger had a tight hamstring against Chelsea, and he was taken off. Fortunately, the injury was not very serious, and Nani is fit to start against Reading.
“Now my confidence is high and I think the best is still to come from me,” said Nani. “This is my time and I think I can be important for the team in these big games.
“Because I was injured for two months, I’m fresh now when some other players are starting to get tired.
“I feel I’m in good form and I’ve nearly arrived at my peak. I think over the next few games I can surprise a few people.”
