Laurent Koscielny says that even though Rooney is a ‘very clever’ striker, he is not as smart as Robin van Persie is. Koscienly admitted that Rooney is one of the toughest forwards he has faced as an Arsenal player. However, he believes that Rooney and Persie are not on the same level.
“[Wayne Rooney]He is very clever, even if Robin van Persie is smarter,” Koscielny told L’Equipe about the United duo.
“He goes back to the midfield quite often. Rooney likes the ball and to assist.”
He also said that the toughest forward he has faced is Liverpool’s Luis Suarez. He, however, gave disparaging remarks about Suarez.
The 27-years old Arsenal defender tagged Suarez as a cheater who ‘likes to dive’. Kolscienly should now be prepared for some action from the Football Association for his comments.
The French centre back also said that the most impressive forward he has ever played with is Didier Drogba who led Chelsea to their first Champions League title fin May.
He has scored one goal in four appearances this season, despite being a defender.
