The Telegraph in a long report today have summarized a lot of Arsenal business hat is going on these days. The English source reveals that Arsene Wenger is currently monitoring the situation of BenediktHöwedes, Luiz Gustavo and William Carvalho with the hope of landing at least one of them before the transfer window wraps up.
Arsenal had to face the departure of Thomas Vermaelen this summer. The player now plays for FC Barcelona after a £15 million transfer. Besides that, Arsenal’s Per Mertesacker will remain unavailable at the start of the season and the Gunners have an important Champions League play-off to win against Besiktas.
The first in the list of the three identified transfer targets is Howedes. The player currently plays for Schalke. He played all the matches for the World Cup Champions Germany in Brazil this summer. The player is also the current captain of Schalke.
The next in his list is Gustavo. In 2013, Arsene Wenger tried to sign Gustavo but he chose for Wolfsburg instead. The player plays in the central midfield which happens to be Arsenal’s major area of concern this summer. The player can also play as a centre-back and left-back.
Carvalho is also in the list and it is assumed that he can play as an effective central defensive midfielder.
