The Spanish site Vozpopili has revealed that Carlo Ancelotti had offered Karim Benzema to Arsenal during the transfer window when Arsene Wenger was negotiating over Di Maria and Mesut Ozil. This was because Ancelotti was interested in bringing a striker that he liked more like Luis Suarez or Mario Gomez. Gomez has revealed that he was contacted by Real Madrid, but he did not want to join Madrid because he thinks that he will not get much playing time there.
The report claims that Benzema was initially offered to Arsenal during the Di Maria negotiations, even before Mesut Ozil was named, and Wenger was not interested in signing him.
They do not clearly state why the deal broke down, but Lady Arse Gossip highlight that money could be the problem. Madrid had spent a lot on Gareth Bale’s transfer, and they needed to balance their money a little with the Ozil money. Thus, they could not bid for Luis Suarez.
