Brazilian legend Ronaldinho admits that the first memory he has of English football is watching Eric Cantona play.
“I remember seeing Eric Cantona play for Manchester United,” he told The Daily Mail.
“The way he used to control games was special to watch. Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Wayne Rooney, all players who, at their peak, would have got into any team in the world. Rooney is a player I like – there is not a national squad in the world he would not improve.”

United had almost signed Ronaldinho in 2003, before PSG decided to sell him to Barcelona instead. Following that, Ronaldinho was named as the best player in the world in 2003 and 2004. Interestingly, to cover up that, United signed Cristiano Ronaldo. There are no regrets at Old Trafford for making that move though.
Ronaldinho claims that he does not regret that he never got to play in England. He revealed that the closest he got to England was Manchester United, but the move could not be made possible.
“That was the only time it has been a real option,” he said. “If Manchester United had signed me they would have won more European Cups!”
Ronaldo has been selected for the squad that will play against England and he is now looking forward to impressing the coach so that he could get a chance to represent the South Americans in the next world club.
