Arsene Wenger has finally admitted his defeat in the signing of Zaha. Despite admitting they were looking for Zaha on Thursday, he said we were never in for him in his latest interview with Arsenal.com .

Wenger confirmed that he is interested in the winger: “We are looking at him, but at the moment we have not made any bid for him.

“I don’t know if Manchester United are in for him. Anyway, if you call any club for any player, they will tell you Man United, Milan, Real Madrid are as well in for him, but it is always difficult to know if it is true or not.”

But the Frenchman has now denied any interest in Zaha, stressing in a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash with West Ham that he had no interest in the player.

“We were never in for him, never,” Wenger told Arsenal.com.

“If he goes to Man United, good luck to him,” the Frenchman finished.

Zaha, 20, is reportedly on the verge of joining Manchester United in a £15m deal after meeting with Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson on Monday.
