Arsenal striker Oliver Giroud insists that his start at Arsenal is better than Robin van Persie’s start for the North Londoners.
Giroud, along with Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla had joined Arsenal last summer, and he had impressively taken his Ligue 1 side Montpellier to victory.
Giroud has scored 14 goals and made 10 assists for Arsenal. He believes that he is now settling at the club, and he is proving that those who doubted him were wrong.
“For the first season … It’s better than Van Persie when he arrived here, although when he arrived at Arsenal [2004], he was younger [he was 20],” Giroud told L’Equipe.
Arsenal had been linked with Schalke’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Barcelona’s David Villa, but no striker joined the Emirates during the January transfer window. Though the rumours did concern him, but Giroud believes that Arsene Wenger has faith in him.
“The British press has talked so much. The coach is not really okay for the winter market,” he added. “It would be hypocritical to say that I did not think about it. After that, I have always believed that the coach would leave me time, I did not see him cutting the grass under my feet.”
