According to the reports from the Spanish newspaper, Sport, David Villa has told Barcelona that he would like to exit now.

David Villa has got frustrated with the lack of playing time at Barcelona and he would now like to develop his career outside Camp Nou.

It is understood that the club that are struggling hard to get their hands on the 31-year old Spaniard are Arsenal who are in great need of a striker like him, since Robin van Persie left them last summer.

The Gunners now look even more fired up to sign him after they lost to both Manchester City and Chelsea and are dropping points at that time of the season when it is important to pick up every possible point.

Arsenal was however given the hands-off signal by Barcelona after the club released statements saying that they were not ready to give away David Villa.

Barcelona Manager Tito Vilanova said: “David is not going to leave. We are very happy with him.”

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell said: “I completely rule out the transfer of Villa during the winter market.

“He is ours and we need him, there is a lot of the season left.”

However, if reports from Spain are true then the Spanish striker could be joining the North London team from where his teammate Cesc Fabregas had joined them. David Villa could turn out to be a perfect fit at Arsenal.
