Swansea City’s duo consisting of Michu and Ashley Williams were linked with Arsenal all summer but now finally the deal seems to be happening as Swansea’s general manager have admitted the interest from the Gunners but he hopes that the duo stays at Swansea and help them progressing further.
Swansea have put a reported £25m price tag on striker Michu, who bagged 22 goals in all competitions for the Welsh side last year, as well as winning the both the Supporters’ and Players’ Player of The Year awards.
Wenger is a long-term admirer of Williams and has been tracking him for months, but Cowie is hoping against hope that the players stay at Swansea despite of getting attracted towards Arsenal.
On Arsenal’s interest he said, “Both are integral to our plans this season so we will be fighting tooth and nail to keep them”
As the transfer window is nearing an end with Gunners completing their second signing of the season, it would be interesting to see whether Arsenal step up their pursuit of the Swansea players.
The Gunners look adamant to land in quality after being placed in a Group of Death for the Champions’ League group stage. And if they are looking to qualify to the next round they need to make their squad even more competitive.
