Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out Gareth Bale’s departure insisting that the player will stay, even though Spurs will not play in the Champions League next season.

Spurs missed out on a chance to play the Champions League as their North London rivals Arsenal beat Newcastle 1-0.

Although AVB was expecting that his team will play the Champions League next season, but he is not ready to back-down.

He said: “It’s disappointing and we can’t hide from that. We had expectations to go through but what we can learn is 72 points next time round might not be enough.”

Tottenham have never scored 72 points before and this has been a club record.

AVB has also insisted that missing out on the Champions League does not mean that his players will leave, particularly Bale.

He added: “I have told you this a hundred times and I have to say once again [he won't go]. This has been an ongoing question. We have to keep our ambitions high, hold on to our best players.

“For us to make it better in the future we have to hold on to the best.”

However, Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has insisted that no official announcement will be made on the striker’s future until after Jovetic has met with owner of the club Diego Della Valle.

Jovetic scored for Fiorentina in their 5-1 victory over Pescara yesterday, and Prade was asked if this game was Jovetic’s last game for the club, to which he replied: “This is his last game with us? Never say never. We will give a response only after a meeting between the player and Della Valle.”

When asked about the rumours claiming Juventus want him, he said: “I was not even allowed to speak to Juventus also because they have not yet asked about Jovetic.”

It had been reported arlier that Arsenal will only be able to sign Jovetic if they secure a place in the Champions League next season, which they did yesterday by landing just one point above their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

On the other hand, Fiorentina lost their chance of playing in the Champions League when AC Milan were awarded with a late penalty against Sienna.

It does seem that the answer to the question in the title – ‘Jovetic to Arsenal?’ – is a yes!

David Moyes managed his last Everton game yesterday in The Barclays Premier League. He can bring Marouane Fellaini with him at Manchester United.

As Moyes takes over the United office, he will have to deal with Rooney’s issue and he will have to make transfers.

However what is interesting is that Everton midfielder Fellaini has been linked to United for a long time, and the midfielder has now expressed his desire to follow his manager.

Fellaini can only be bought by United if the club are willing to pay £23million – his buyout clause.

“If I’m leaving Everton, I say if, it will depend on lots of factors,” said Fellaini.

“I only want to go to a club where the manager ­really wants me. In 2008, Everton did everything to convince me, especially David Moyes. He made me the player I am now.”

Fellaini also revealed that Moyes has stated that he could become a deep lying midfielder – something that would suit United very well.

“I’m happy with my ­season, although I didn’t play in my best position,” said Fellaini. “I’m not a number 10. David Moyes predicts my future as a ­defensive midfielder, but due to a lack of offensive power, he plays me up front.

“In the future I want to play as a six or an eight. From there, I can create danger and score goals.”
