CaughtOffside have revealed that Arsenal have agreed terms with Liverpool defender Daniel Agger and the Gunners are now holding talks with the player over his personal terms.
The Danish international has been apparently signed by the North Londoners to add depth to the squad. This is done following the departure of Arsenal’s former captain Thomas Vermaelen.
Caught Offside term the player as a ‘surplus’ at Liverpool.
The 29-year-old has also attracted interest from other clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, and apparently the player realises that he will have to face competition at Arsenal to make his place in the starting XI. However, Arsenal promise Champions League football which keeps them ahead of both the other clubs.
Thomas Vermaelen had to face competition from Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny at the central back position and Daniel Agger will have to face competition as well.
Agger can play at left back too but Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs are Arsenal’s main options for that spot.
All in all, this news does not really make sense. It could be just another rumour.
