David de Gea was dropped from the Manchester United that faced Southampton following his blunder when they faced Fulham. Sir Alex reportedly said that he was replaced by Anders Lindegaard following David’s mistake.

Sir Alex Ferguson said on the matter: “I think young David made a mistake last week. He knows it. With the form he’s been in, he’s been making some fantastic saves but one error like that could have cost us the game. It’s just a learning process for him and he’ll be back in a couple of weeks after the international break.”

Lindegaard conceded two goals from the Saints. Ferguson said: “Anders had his first game. I thought he was a little bit nervous at points but he’s a very good keeper also. I don’t think it’s a big issue but it’s something you have to deal with.”

In the last two matches United has played, they have first conceded goals and then came back from that core to win the matches. They will play their next match after the international break.

United will next host Wigan at Old Trafford on 15th September after which they will face Galatasaray for the Champions League.
