The change of the manager certainly stalled a few pending matters after The Great Scot Sir Alex Ferguson decided to retire from his long successful tenure at Manchester United. One of the deals which were on going was the recruitment of the upcoming Brazilian sensation Bruno Gomes.
Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson had given him a few trials with in the youth team and was a long term admirer of his talent. But the deal stalled along with Adnan Januzaj’s new contract signing as Ferguson announced his retirement.
It does now seem however, that United have renewed their interest in Gomes, who is also being chased by Udinese, Sao Paulo and most notably, Real Madrid, after David Moyes was briefed on the player’s ability.
Although there is considerable competition for his signature, Manchester United do have the upper hand in the negotiations. Gomes himself has spoken openly about his desire to play for Manchester United, both in an interview conducted during his second trial and on his twitter account where he has kept his followers up to date on the deal.
Another plus for Manchester United is that Desportivo Brazil has been a feeder club to United even in the past. Although, the only concern for United might be that they have a considerable amount of quality strikers in their youth team as well with Henriquez, Macheda, Will Keane and Lingard already trying hard to break through the first team. So whether a new striker would be a good buy or not, only time will tell.
