After Franz Beckenbauer hinted that Mandzukic would be out of the club, many hungry for striker teams have started showing the interest including Arsenal. Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are in the mix for the prolific and accurate poacher.
The Croatian international hitman has dropped down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena this season with Pep Guardiola often going with either Mario Gotze or Thomas Muller in a ‘false 9′ role up front, and Mandzukic is going to find first team football even harder to come by next season once Robert Lewandowski completes his free transfer move from Borussia Dortmund.
The 27-year-old was left out of the squad entirely for last night’s 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach and after the game, president Franz Beckenbauer claimed that the striker can ‘pack his bags’ as he doesn’t fit into Guardiola’s system.
Franz said, “Mandzukic could pack his bags. I don’t think Mandzukic suits Pep Guardiola’s style.”
This news is sure to alert several clubs throughout Europe and in particular a host of clubs here in the Premier League with the Metro suggesting that London-based trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have all shown an interest in the player in recent weeks.
