Arsenal have had a stable center back pairing since last two seasons as Per Mertasacker and Laurent Koscielny together have put in some wonderful performances for The Gunners. Special mention also goes to the Bould effect. Without Steve Bould this would not have been possible and Arsenal wouldn’t have a reliable center back pairing that they have.
Last year Koscielny said that if Arsenal don’t win silverware he’ll be looking somewhere else for options. But things have changed now and Arsenal have a chance to achieve their most successful season in last 8 years as Everton slipping up yesterday have made them clear favorites for the top 4 plus an FA cup.
This time is really the perfect time to tie important players and Koscielny should be on top of the list. Arsenal may find a battle on their hands to keep centre-back Laurent Koscielny amidst interest being shown by Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.
The Telegraph believes Arsenal in the process of addressing Koscielny’s salary with a wage rise up to £90,000 per week.
Financially, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that PSG and Monaco are capable of outbidding Arsenal for their defender.
French sources also believe Manchester United to be interested in the Arsenal defender. The Red Devils are already losing Captain Nemanja Vidic at the end of the season to Internazionale on a free transfer.
