Arsenal maintain their legacy of promoting youth as now another one of Arsenal’s academy’s prodigy steps up into the first team. The club’s official website reported that highly rated Julio Pleguezuelo has signed his first professional contract at the London Conley.
The 17-year-old joined our youth academy from Barcelona last summer and has featured for both the Under-18s and Under-19s this season, while he’s already a Spanish youth international.
His assured displays at the back helped Arsenal reach the UEFA Youth League quarter finals this season while he’s also been part of the side that’s made it to the last four of the FA Youth Cup, where we must now beat Chelsea over two legs to reach the final.
Pleguezuelo was cited highly when he was first bought in from Barcelona so it’s a great news for Arsenal that such a highly rated Spaniard has decided to commit his future with The Gunners.
The youngster has great pace for a defender and is excellent in the air, so hopefully he’s going to continue his development over the next couple of years and push for a place in the first team squad.
