Arsenal don’t have a habit of securing future of the players who are entering their 30’s but one person who completely deserves the contract extension even in his twilight years is Bacary Sagna. The veteran has been one of the best Premier League’s full back and is still going strong. For his loyalty to The Gunners, Arsene Wenger has decided to offer him a new contract but this doesn’t mean he’ll start every game. Obvious replacements for Bacary Sagna are being lined up by the club.
Toulouse’s defender Serge Aurier is considered by The Gunners to be the front runner in the race.
According to reports in the Daily Star, Arsene Wenger is ready to part with as much as £15m to bring the 21-year-old to the Emirates and Aurier himself has expressed his desire to play for Arsenal should a deal progress;
“You can’t refuse an offer from Arsenal – it would be a dream.”
Cassanova clearly has huge belief in his young defender and is keen to heap praise on the starlet;
“His performances are a continuation of what he’s been doing since he arrived, but with greater offensive and defensive efficiency. He’s realising his huge potential. He has such a huge will to win and desire to work that I can’t see a limit. Within a few months, he’ll be capable of starting for any big club.”
