If we assume that there is any truth present in the rumors Arsenal are on course for making another stellar signing. This time Arsene Wenger is stepping up to hijack their rivals’ target William Carvalho. The reports from The Metro suggest that Arsene Wenger is now looking to strengthen the squad which is currently tormented through injuries.
Portuguese daily newspaper Record has revealed that the Gunners have taken a look at the 21-year-old who operates as an anchorman in their engine room.
Born in Angola, the ball winner won his first cap for Portugal as a substitute in the 3-2 World Cup play-off victory against Sweden in
November and could be part of their squad heading to the finals in Brazil. Wenger has apparently asked for a detailed dossier on his abilities as word has reached the Emirates that Carvalho has been a mainstay in the Lisbon midfield this season after gaining experience last term when he was on loan at Belgium club Cercle Brugge.
The only problem in the negotiations which is likely to get in the way is that 40% rights of the player are owned by a third party so the fee might be really high for Arsenal as the player is under contract for the next four years.
