Arsenal have sent a delegation in Germany in attempt to wind up Schalke’s highly rated midfielder Julian Draxler according to ESPN.
The clubs are holding high level discussions over the transfer of the midfielder and Wenger revealed after their 2-2 draw against Southampton that he would probably have to add a few names to his side before the transfer period ends. This has also been triggered by
Aaron Ramsey’s injury and Mathieu Flamini’s four match suspension.
Draxler has a £37 million release clause in his contract but the Gunners are not willing to pay more than £30 million.
Apparently, Arsenal have put forward a £25m bid for Draxler but a lot of sources claim that negotiations are still going on and no proper deal has yet been made. Even Wenger earlier claimed that they are not close to signing anyone.
Schalke are also hunting for a midfielder so if they get someone, their chances of letting go of Draxler would increase.
