Reports have suggested that The Gunners have entered into a long awaited queue of clubs who are trying to secure the signings of coveted Benfica’s midfielder Namanja Matic. Matic has been speculated to being linked with a reunion with the Premier League after a previous spell at Stamford bridge with Chelsea who sold him to kidnap David Luiz from Benfica.
According to talk SPORT the Serbian’s agent has been contacted by Arsenal as they look to make the first move. Although Premiership heavyweights Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City along with Real Madrid are all vying for his signature.
The 6”4′ central midfielder would offer bite and technical ability to any midfield, although only Manchester City are the team who don’t need much strengthening into the area. Teams like United and Cheslea both are struggling in the holding area department and for United with the imminent transfer of Anderson they surely need a midfielder.
Arsenal though would certainly benefit from the signing. Although having a host of creative and attacking midfield options, they still have some issues in the centre of the park despite resigning of Flamini. Someone strong as well as being technically good, in the Viera mould, is something Wenger would undoubtedly like to add to his squad.
