It has been noticed by many people that in the recent past Arsene Wenger has been pretty much scouting German players. Lukas Podolski, Per Mertasacker and Mesut Ozil being the prime examples. But now Arsenal have been linked to many Brazilian players with Bernard and now Diego on the top of their transfer list.
Brazilian playmaker Diego will be out of contract this summer and has been offered to manager Arsene Wenger. The well-decorated midfielder has attracted Wenger’s interest before while playing in the Bundesliga. This season saw him start the year at Wolfsburg, before returning to Atletico in January on a short term deal.
His form has been somewhat inconsistent, netting only once in his ten appearances since retiring to the Spanish giants. However his experience could prove very useful as a squad player next season. And at a low cost, Wenger May view this as a shrewd investment. It seems that Diego would have no trouble settling in either; the former Werder Bremen man is very good friends with Arsenal star Mesut Özil from their time in Germany together.
He has failed to get into Scolari’s squad but there is no doubt on his talent at all and he will have plenty of time to think for his future.
